Choosing a career is a full circle process, beginning with a lot of self-understanding! How can a resume be written if one doesn’t realize their self-worth and if work skills are not understood?
It’s very common for people to just do their jobs without really thinking about actual activities that are performed and the skills that are gained along the way. Bethany will discuss this with you as part of not only building a resume but in preparation of a job search, potential interviews and more.
First of all, are you even in the right career? If you think so, are you ready for more responsibility?
Bethany will walk you through an easy assessment and discuss the details with you so that you better understand your work personality, how you fit into the world of work, and getting along with others in the workplace.
So many things to say here! There are lots of rules, changes and inside information on creating a winning resume.
Resumes can be subjective depending upon the industry in which you apply and also depending upon the human resources staff! Having spoken to many different HR staff means getting many different answers about what they want to see on a resume.
A clean look with balance and factually listing acquired skills that the company is looking for within a job description is a good foundation. Structure and content are everything, but it does vary on what type of job is being sought. Applicant Tracking Software (ATS) can be a barrier when applying online, so the use of a fancy layout is not recommended.
Bethany has also worked with many veterans re-entering the workforce after the military and is skilled at translating military experience to civilian positions.

bgreenley Career Advising and Consulting can help your off-boarding employees find new jobs faster and reduce downsizing costs for your company. Protect your company brand and ease anxiety by providing transition assistance for employees at all levels.
Composing a resume and beginning a job search can be overwhelming. Many people just “do” their jobs without realizing the skills that have been gained over time. These skills are transferable to many other jobs. A personalized outplacement plan will be created for each employee by meeting one on one to help them understand how their knowledge can be applied to an individualized job search plan. Support will be provided to ease into the transition and lessen stress levels.
Your employees will receive assistance with composing a resume, a cover letter, and a thank you letter with the understanding of how to adjust each one for job applications. Other services can be added for departing employees to offer creation or revision of a LinkedIn profile, networking tips and interview coaching.
Learn how to become comfortable and calm your nerves before your next interview. Being prepared will help overcome nervousness (we all get nervous, it’s ok).
Together, we will go over some tips to assist in this process, including appropriate interview dress and answering interview questions. We will discuss follow up and next steps, whether there is a job offer or not.
As a Career Practitioner, Bethany has worked with HR professionals, colleges, workforce agencies, individuals, and employers to offer professional development to staff, new executives, Career Coaches and those going through a career transition.
